What is SMDB Companion?
SMDB Companion is a tool designed to help audio professionals find and remove duplicate audio files in their Soundminer databases. It works with your existing Soundminer setup and improves efficiency by eliminating redundant files.
How do I use SMDB Companion to find duplicate files?
After installing SMDB Companion, simply point it to your Soundminer database, and it will automatically scan for duplicate audio files based on specific matching algorithms. You can then review and remove the duplicates as needed.
Is SMDB Companion compatible with Windows?
Currently, SMDB Companion is only available for MacOS. However, we are exploring the possibility of expanding support for other platforms in the future.
Is there a Trial Version?
Yes. SMDB Compainion is fully functional when you download it. However you will need to purchase a license to make any changes to your Soundminer Databases.
Do I need to own Soundminer to run SMDB Companion?
Yes. SMDB Compainion does not scan your computer's files. It requires a Soundminer Database to function.
Does SMDB Companion alter my databases?
For safety, SMDB Companion by default will create a new database to preserve your old one. If you prefer, you can change this preference and have it remove records from the currently open database directly.
